I’d like to invite you to one of my favorite December traditions, a Madonna Mtn sunset hike on Friday December 8th at 4pm. I will be leading a group up to the top of Madonna Mtn to see the Christmas tree and then down as the sun is setting! A steady hiking pace is necessary to beat most of the darkness. I have been hiking Madonna around 4pm most weeks and find that the last quarter of the hike requires a flashlight (or headlamp). The city of SLO requires a permit from 6pm and later, I typically make it down between 5 and 5:30pm so I do not plan to obtain a permit. Please wear layers such as a long sleeve shirt, vest and wind breaker. I’d also recommend a headband or beanie to go over your ears as the top can be windy. Please make sure you are wearing quality trail / hiking shoes and if you need water please pack it. Meet at the Madonna Mtn parking lot off of Marsh exit at 4pm. This parking lot can be busy so if you can carpool I’d recommend it. I drop Charly off at gymnastics at 3:45 pm and will meet you at the trail head at 4pm.
