Gatorade is used to replenish the body during and after an endurance type of exercise that lasts longer than one hour. When you sweat a lot it is important to replenish your potassium, calcium and electrolytes during and after your training. Gatorade is full of sugar, words we cannot pronounce, and FOOD ADDITIVES….WHAT????? No good!

Coconut water supplies more potassium than 2 bananas, calcium, vitamin C and more electrolytes than leading sport drinks. I have switched over to drinking a coconut water after my longer runs and I seem to recover very quickly.

You can buy a case at Costco for pretty cheap and keep a few in the fridge. You can also add coconut water to your smoothies for an added nutritional bonus.

  1. Thanks for the info. I have been hearing more and more about the benefits of this wonder liquid. I was just told from a Doctor of Chinese medicine that it would be a good idea to drink coconut milk, and I thought jeez, how am I going to manage that? Now I know! Thanks Amy!
